Cook's Short Order Update

Genesis 1:15 "God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also."

Then He sent His Son to be the Light of the World, as a human, and still God! Impossible to figure out, this God! But we are so thankful for His amazing love for us; thankful for His gift of salvation; thankful for this time of year to put special focus on Jesus, the focus of Heaven, and hopefully the focus of our lives.

Praise the Lord!!! He has provided a house for us. A dear friend in our church has offered a home to stay in for as long as we need! It needs some work so pray as we seek to get this and packing and moving accomplished in the next weeks and month.

Praise:
1. A wonderful home in the country.
2. A wonderful church family to help with the transition.
3. 9 lives who were rescued by the power of the Holy Spirit this Sunday at our church!
4. So many friends like you who are praying for us. We love you guys!

Prayer:
1. 2nd vehicle as I will need to get a "real" job for a while.
2. We will need an electric dryer and stove and a place to store our gas dryer and stove (and a few other things) - we may try putting in a small LP tank so we can use what we have.
3. We need boxes and packing bubbles and such.
4. For the new believers' protection and growth mentioned above.
5. For our friends at Mirriam Christian Chapel in Indiana. Their Pastor recently went home to be with his Savior.

Cook's Short Order Update

Dear Friends,

It's been just three weeks since I resigned from Bible Impact Ministries, yet God has overwhelmed us with so much support from some of you. Thank you! You are a blessing to us during a tough time of growth.

Please keep praying that:

1. We will remain faithful to God
2. We will lead our family in integrity
3. Our family will grow in grace and integrity through this
4. I can find work till God leads to the next ministry

We are talking with a couple different people about houses that may be available to us. Packing will not be an easy thing for us, as memories will make the job difficult. Pray that God will grow us even through this task.

We love you, our faithful supporters, and we will keep you informed each step of the journey.

To our dear faithful supporters,

I have resigned from my position with Bible Impact Ministries and Whispering Winds Bible Camp. I’m sure you understand that this was not an easy decision.

It became evident during the most recent board meeting, that there are ongoing, apparently unresolvable issues between us and this ministry.

Every Christian must stand before God and answer for his or her actions. If Michelle and I have made wrong decisions we will give an account before God.

I do not feel that it will be beneficial to anyone to discuss details in this letter. However, if any of you, our dear faithful supporters, feel you need more answers, please call and we will do our best to answer any and all questions while following the biblical mandate to speak truth lovingly.

We have been given until January 31 to live on the property here and collect support through Bible Impact Ministries. We are continuing to live on faith support. We will continue seeking God’s plan for us and we will keep you updated as much as possible.

We beg of you to pray for us during this transition. Pray that: 1) we will be faithful to God in all respects, 2) God will keep Michelle and I faithful to our family in all respects, 3) we will not miss what God has next, nor jump ahead of His timing.

We love each of you dearly, and count on your support to help us remain faithful servants of our Savior,

Bruce Cook

November 22, 2011

Dear Supporters of Bruce and Michelle Cook,

Bruce and Michelle Cook have been an important part of Bible Impact Ministries the last two years.

Bruce worked as the Outdoor Education Director, Resident Camp Director and Camp Crew Director. Michelle and the rest of the family have assisted him in his ministry.

The Cook’s have presented their letter of resignation to Bible Impact Ministries Board effective November 18, 2011.

Sometimes in ministry there are issues that become too difficult. Acts 16:36-41 describes one of those times for Paul and Barnabas, two dedicated servants of Jesus Christ. There had to be a parting of ways with both having very valuable ministries afterward.

We, as a board, commend Bruce and Michelle for their service at Bible Impact Ministries. We believe they will continue to be valuable in ministry in the future.

The Cook’s are scheduled to live on campus until January 31st. Receiving support through this ministry will continue until that time. We urge you to keep on supporting the Cooks during their transition to another ministry.

Patrick Norris

Genesis 1:9 "Then God said, "Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear"; and it was so.

"For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountain of ignorance; he is about to conquer the highest peak; as he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries." Astronomer Robert Jastrow.

A trip to West Virginia a couple weekends ago included dropping Nate off at Appalachian Bible College ("thank you God, for such a fine place to leave our son!"), a couple hours with Bryan, a visit with our sending church, Mount Tabor Baptist Church, and several very short visits with others in the area. It was very tough leaving Nate, both for us and for him, but God gives us these precious gifts only for a time. Thank you God!

Prayer:
1. Trip to a new church in Indiana this weekend.
2. Need for General Director and Camp Program Director for Bible Impact Ministries.
3. Our home school has picked up again.

Praise:
1. Nate is safely at ABC

Cook's Short Order Update
Genesis 1:7 - "God made the expanse, and separated the waters which were below the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse; and it was so."

"If you could hear the voices in the wind, what secrets might you hear from distant lands?"

This summer was one of stretching, growth, and waiting on the Lord. Your prayers have been invaluable to us. Thank you! Summer Camp is done but we are already busy with plans for our Labor Day Celebration, a Creation Conference scheduled for late October, retreats, rentals, and travel. Man, I'm tired already just thinking about it.

If you receive the BIM Newsletter (quarterly) you will read about our new outdoor education program. It has a name: Whispering Winds LOG Cabin School. You will continue to hear about this in the coming months. As we speak we are also working on web pages and other avenues to use this tool to serve you.

Nate is making plans to be at Appalachian Bible College by the end of this month. We are so excited about what God has ahead for him. Caleb will be the new man of the house whenever Mom and Dad are out. We are proud of how God is growing these young men. Kaitie and Seth are growing in their walks with God and we love to watch them progress toward Jesus Christ.

Current support level - approx. 50%

God has been gracious to us. We praise Him for His care for us this summer.

"Then God said, "Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it separate the waters from the waters." Genesis 1:6

"I believe in God, only I spell it Nature." - Frank Lloyd Wright. The problem is too many people would agree with Mr. Wright. How very very sad.

Camp has started. Last week was Summer Staff training. We started with a small fire on Sunday as Camp Crew arrived, a mix up on cabin assignments on Monday, late additions to the camper attendance, a fight midweek. I have been filling the role of Program Director so most of this fell to me to deal with. God was gracious and helped us through.

We had a great time training, teaching, learning to love our staff. They are wonderful people and are making this ministry run smoothly. This week is our first Junior Resident and Teen Wilderness camps. Almost done and getting ready for next week: Junior Wilderness and Teen Resident.

The days are long now and Michelle and I are both working long hours. Nate and Caleb are working hard as Counselor and Camp Crew. Please pray for Kaitie and Seth as we are separated much. It is becoming hard on them.

Good news!!:
So far 5 have accepted Christ as their Savior this week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Current Support level: approx 50%.

"God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day." Genesis 1:5

"Rivers and rocks and trees have always been talking to us, but we've forgotten how to listen." - Michael Roads

Nate is now gradumatated! Last Saturday Nate gave his first formal speech and sang a song he wrote while playing the guitar. By God's grace he did awesomely on both accounts! Bruce gave the charge to the graduates (forgot his reading glasses so there was a panic moment when he got to the platform).

About a week ago Bruce completed his Open Water Rescue Lifeguard training and is working on his CDL this week. He and Jake (Wilderness Program Director) are working hard to get the Climbing Wall ready and the schedule ready Staff Orientation Week.

Bruce just learned today that he has been appointed to the New Harmony Christian Academy School Board. Pray for wisdom as he serves.

Caleb, Kaitie and Seth are very excited... another school year is done, so this means endless hours outside exploring God's wonderful Creation.

Speaking of summer, Michelle's responsibilities will increase a bunch this summer as we are short-staffed. Bruce will be acting as Program Director most weeks so Michelle will be the Camp Crew Supervisor. Pray for stamina and wisdom. Pray for Kaitie and Seth as this means they will need to share Mom a little more this summer. Please pray that as this summer unfolds God will help Michelle and Bruce be great parents.

We enjoyed a good trip to West Virginia for Bruce's graduation, spend time with Bryan, connect with supporters, short update with our sending church and visit our favorite locations in and around New River Gorge. We didn't have enough cash to make this trip, but God knew our needs (of course!) and provided through some of you. Thank you. This was a special time for our family.

Supervise cleaning of facilities prior to each rental group (we've had 14 since the summer session)
Research needed facilities and costs
Assist with annual budget proposal
Develop material for Outdoor Education Classes
Evaluate previous summer programs to adjust for next season
Develop new brochure for new Outdoor Education program

"I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in." George Washington Carver.

Happy Birthday, Nate!!! He turned 19 last week. We rejoice in his life. One of our doctors suggested we end his life due to an unusually high number from one test. Life is too precious to base it on opinions.

We are in the middle of several retreats. Men's Retreat, Teen Retreat, Lady's Retreat. Fun stuff after the quiet winter months. One of the teens who attended our Spring Teen Retreat is now a Christian!!!! Praise the Lord and pray for her.

After living here for almost a year we finally played frizbee golf. It's right outside our door and just waiting to be used. I guess we're slow. Fun time as a family!

The plan is for Bruce to graduate from Appalachian Bible College's Master of Arts in Ministry program this May 7, 10 am. We are excited to announce Nate will be graduating from the Cook Home School May 21, 2pm, at First Assembly of God, Rolla, MO.

We have some exciting announcements to make in the next few weeks regarding the Outdoor Education program at Whispering Winds Bible Camp. Don't miss it!

We are finally home after 1200 miles and several presentations, a wedding, many hugs and laughs connecting with friends and family. God has been so gracious to us. Thank you Chris and Jeanie for the warm soft beds, and World Missionary Press for the same.

"For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord..." Jeremiah 29:11.

Praise the Lord! New Harmony Church in Salem, MO, our new home church, has decided to take us on as one of their missionaries. What a blessing. Thank you all.

That brings our current support level to about 47%.

We are so grateful for how God supplies. Due to the generosity of you, our supporters, we are able to put new tires on our van, replace a small appliance, and other needed items. Did you notice our financial support level above? Evidently God is not concerned with percentage when it comes to providing for our needs. Phil. 4:19!

Please pray for:
1. Nate as he works through some decisions. We want him to be confident in God's plan for him.
2. A few who have contacted us regarding potential support. We want them to know God's desire in this matter.

To go or not to go. That is the question we ask ourselves whenever there is inclement weather and we are leaving our driveway. Stuff is so far away, and on less than ideal roads, we have to weigh these decisions carefully. God is gracious (I know you knew that) and has protected us from harm so far this winter. Thank you God!

"God writes the gospel not in the Bible alone, but on trees and flowers and clouds and stars." Martin Luther said that. Hmmm... was he an outdoor education specialist as well as theologian?

First, our projected support by the end of this month should be at 43%!

Second, the link that will take you to our online Prayer Letter won't be available immediately. Look for it in the next couple days.

I am sorry for the confusion and lack of information and very thankful for my wife!

Great news! One of our supporters increased their financial support for us! And a church is considering taking us on as one of their missionaries. Praise the Lord for His provisions!

Enjoying traveling to bball games for Nate and Caleb, though when all 4 teams play it's a rather long day. Our newest Prayer Letter is on its way to you, that is, if we have your physical mailing address. If not, check any of the links above to find an online version. You can always have us add your physical address for our next mailing.

Thank you for praying for us,
Bruce

Happy New Year

As we begin 2011, we wish to thank you who have supported us through 2010 with many prayers and faithful gifts! God knows each of our needs and we thank you for being part of meeting them. God bless each of you.
